Calcutta Rescue’s chief executive Jaydeep Chakraborty drove an ambulance for 120km yesterday through the deserted streets of West Bengal on a mercy mission to get drugs to a young woman who has a rare bleeding disorder. The charity is working as hard as it can this week to get food and drugs out to hundreds of poor people trapped in the slums by a three-week lockdown without the medicine they need and with no money to buy food.
